Marcia Smith

I am a design researcher and practitioner and work as a senior research associate in the PARIS-DE project at School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University. I am interested in systemic design, combining systems thinking with design practice and research methods, particularly around co-design and participatory approaches. In my current research we study the environmental impacts of digital technologies and co-create with innovators in the Information and Communication Technology sector a framework with tools to help make sense and reduce carbon emissions of digital technologies supporting decision making under uncertainty and exploring future scenarios considering rebound effects and enablements.
