Understanding the temporal and spatial dynamics of water and ice across our landscapes is critical not only for the hazards and resources that they provide, but also for understanding the interplay with other Earth system components, notably the biosphere. Currently, data volumes are exploding as satellite technology advances and in-situ sensor networks begin to stream data in real time. Our research aims to find better ways to use these data, in combination with large complex Earth system, ice and hydrological models to monitor changes in this valuable resource, and to improve our predictive ability to determine its future evolution.
